Mr. Joseph Fyfe, one of our pioneer timber-getters, passed away very suddenly last Thursday morning whilst on his way to Caboolture (says our Woodford correspondent under date 18th instant) with a load of timber. He was accompanied by his son, a young lad, who was driving another team. When near Mr. Pointon's place, at the foot of the Big Hill, a man named Newman, who was passing, noticed him sitting down near the road, and spoke to him, when poor Fyfe told him that he felt very bad. Mr. Newman, observing that he was in a bad state, obtained assistance and took him up to Mr. Pointon's house, but the poor fellow died shortly after. He had been in a very weak state of health for some time before, and appears to have been completely worn out. The body was buried at the Caboolture cemetery on Saturday morning, and as the deceased was widely known and much respected the funeral was largely attended. He leaves a wife and young family to mourn their loss, but fortunately they are not left unprovided for.
